SCYM Volunteers
Thank you for taking the time to volunteer for our SCYM programs. Please take the time to complete the following steps to volunteer in our diocese and our program.- Step 1: Obtain fingerprinting application form from Valerie Van Meter in the Parish Office. Fill out form and return it to Valerie. She will then give you the Live Scan Form; that is the form you take to an authorized fingerprinting location. Once your fingerprints are complete, return your fingerprinting form to Valerie.
- Step 2: Go online to www.shieldthevulnerable.org to complete the online Safe Environment Training Program (takes approx 90 min). Continue on to fill out the Diocesan Policy Against Sexual Misconduct. Sign off on that handbook and give certificates to Valerie. Handbooks are also available in the parish office.
- Step 3: (For Confirmation and High School Program volunteers only) Complete the online Venturing YPT program at the following link myscouting.scouting.org/Pages/eLearning.aspx. (takes approx. 60 min) At the conclusion, print your completed certificate and turn in to Marcie Pomeroy at the parish office.

Hello Confirmation Leaders:
I'm just recovering from a bad bug this week but wanted to get some resources into your hands for this week's class. First, here's a link to a PDF file with the schedule for Sunday Evening and the content for small groups, which will be the bulk of the time. We'll have some good time in small groups this week, so please take the time to review the small group sheet. It has questions but also some content for you to get into as a small group. Depending on your personality this may be more teaching, discussion, or debate, but be sure to get a good grasp of it for Sunday. Also, make sure to have a copy of the Catechism and a Bible handy for looking things up. (We've got extras in the Youth Room if you need them.) Please look at schedule and small group sessions in the link above.
Second, Your small group list will be printed out for you on Sunday to take roll but this way you can remind yourself of who is in your group and be praying for them!
Youth Leadership helping out with Confirmation: take a look at these materials as well, so you are ready to just into the discussions on Sunday and bring energy to the discussion!
Please let me know if you have any questions; you can email me at greg@scdayl.org.
Peace,
Greg

1. Youth Ministry/EDGE Monthly Leader's Meeting: this Tuesday, October 11, from 6:30-8:30PM. We'll be meeting to go over some crucial details for the coming year, have a bit of training, and break into our ministry groups for some solid planning time. We have a lot to do in the next few weeks, so we all need to be present and ready to work.
2. We need to finalize who is going on the "ALIVE--A Day For Youth" on Saturday, Oct 15. We've attached forms for youth and adults. For youth under 25 the fee is included in your Leadership fee; we need additional adult chaperones/drivers, so let me know if you are able, adults. We will depart SCDA @ 6:30AM & Arrive back @ 6:30PM. Please let us know if you are interested in attending, so we can get everyone registered. It will be first come first served, based on the number of chaperones we are able to provide.
3. Halloween Party Planning (for EDGE & High School). We need to get our team together to work on this annual event. Who is motivated to spearhead this? We will have adults available to help but we need Youth & Young Adults to head this event up. Who's ready? Once we have a planning team together, we can move ahead; we have had a couple people express interest in helping out already.
4. Confirmation I Retreat, Nov. 11-13th, at Catalina Island. We need to know ASAP who is going for sure as a Leader/Chaperone and we need registration forms filled out, returned, and online training completed for all those 18+. If you have not already acquired one, please pick up an application at the parish office. Also crucial is that all that are under 25 sign up for Leadership, and do safety training, which is essential for serving in Youth Ministry.
